Email overload is one of the biggest time drains in business. Between customer messages, supplier updates, internal communications and the constant stream of general notifications, it can be hard to see what really matters. Important messages often get buried, leading to missed deadlines, confusion and unnecessary stress. For many business owners, hours are lost each week just trying to keep on top of it all.
Microsoft is introducing a new feature that aims to fix this. Outlook for iOS and Android will soon include Copilot, their built in AI assistant, to help users prioritise their inbox. The new feature, called Priority view, will automatically sort messages into two clear categories: High Priority and Needs Replies. The result is a more focused inbox where important emails stand out straight away, making it easier to respond quickly and stay organised.
This update could be a real productivity boost for busy professionals and teams. It reduces the mental load of sorting through emails and ensures nothing critical gets lost under newsletters or group threads. Employees spend less time managing their inboxes and more time focusing on meaningful work. Over time, even small efficiency gains like this can add up to a major improvement in how a business communicates and manages time.
Priority view is being rolled out gradually and may not reach all users until late 2025. It will only be available for businesses using Microsoft 365 with a Copilot licence, as Copilot is a paid feature. For organisations already exploring AI tools to improve productivity, this is a valuable addition to keep an eye on. It represents another step towards using intelligent automation to simplify daily tasks and free teams from digital clutter.
